Authority to Act Personal Effects Clearance "*" indicates required fields The Customs Act 1901 (the Act) provides details as to the requirement of using a customs broker licensed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Customs to submit an import declaration to import goods. Because of the complexity of the laws governing the importation of goods into Australia (similar to those of most other countries) and the potential financial and other implications of lodging an incorrect entry, most importers of goods choose to engage or allow, either explicitly or implicitly, a licensed customs broker to act on their behalf. This Authority to Act advises the client of the obligations of the licensed customs brokerage and their own obligations regarding importing goods into Australia. It should be reviewed in conjunction with the customs brokerages terms and conditions.Customs Clearance Authority* I/we hereby authorize Customs Brokers Pty Ltd ABN, 63 636 237 682 (the Company) its subsidiaries or other business names, and its nominees and/or subagents as may be appointed when required to act as my/our Licensed Customs Broker for the purposes outlined in the Customs Act 1901 section 181. We acknowledge the details below regarding legislative authority, indemnity and trading terms and conditions. Indemnity and inconsistency* We agree to indemnify Customs Brokers Pty Ltd against any claims or demands made against them arising from any declarations made on our behalf. Any inconsistency between trading terms and conditions, a service agreement, credit application or fee shall be considered in this order unless explicitly outlined in another agreement. Cancellation of previous authority and authorisation* This Authority cancels all previous authorities in force from this date. This authority requires termination by the Customer in writing. Acknowledgement and acceptance of trading terms and conditions* The Customer acknowledges receipt of the Trading Conditions of the Company, a copy of which can be provided on request. Confirmation and Understanding Acknowledgment* The customer has read, understand and accepts our Trading Terms and Conditions The Customer acknowledges that all documents relating to customs clearances, imports and export and related matters are required to be kept for a minimum of 5 years and presented to the relevant authorities on request. Including estimated values for the goods. My goods have been personally owned and used overseas by me for a specified length of time. Generally, this is the 12 months before my departure for Australia.
