Australia budget 2020 included some initiatives for importers, exporters, freight forwarders and other freight industry participants.
We can only hope for further initiatives particular to help our agricultural industries and other importers/exporters that are recovering after the COVID-19 downturn and international trade changes.
In an nutshell these include:
- To make trade more straight forward through the development of further ICT initiatives
- The continuation of the International Freight Assistance Mechanism (IFAM) until June 2020
- Stepping it up on the Wate Export ban working towards the 2024 goal of zero waste exports (with exemptions)
- Expand and diversify trade requirements (i.e. FTA’s, RCEP)
- Trusted trader continuation
